Lovely memories' of Omagh
Sir,
I thought I would like to write to you on behalf of my husband and myself about my feelings on the awful tragedy with the car bomb in your town of Omagh.
My husband and I have come to Omagh for our annual holidays for years and stayed with relatives every time, first with my husband's auntie, the late Nellie Hannigan.
Then for the last couple of years we stayed with Mrs. Hannigan's daughter-in-law, Mrs. Isobel Hannigan.
Every time we have been, all the people could never have been friendlier and helpful.
We have got lovely memories of your town and people. We were just there for our holidays from June 20 to July 2 and there was not one sign of trouble.
Everyone was very helpful and cheerful and when I have ever been asked by other people in England why I choose N. Ireland every year, I just tell them about all the good times we have had there.
But the senseless small group of people who could do this terrible act to all these lovely people can only be classed as animals.
All the people I have ever met of whatever religion were great loving people.
I have had worry and shed tears over this atrocity about relatives and everyone else, even though we are in England.
I would still come to Omagh again, but this incident has left me feeling sick.
These people are not decent Irish people or they would not do this terrible thing to innocent people.
I thought I had to put my thoughts down on paper to you, to get it out of my system and pray to God there is no more heartache or worry for your town. - Yours,
