Team-mates form guard of honour
BOMB victim Gareth Conway's coffin was draped in the red and black jersey of his team, and no member of the Tattyreagh Football Club will wear the Number 7 jersey this year.
School friends and GAA players formed a guard of honour at St Colmcille's Church, Carrickmore, on Wednesday afternoon.
Rev Sean Hegarty, who conducted the requiem mass, said Gareth, of Aghagogan Park, Carrickmore, was a victim of "the most hideous, grotesque and satanic evil.
"We hope and pray we never see another day like this again. It was like a bad dream which turned to bewilderment, shock, sadness, disappointment, anger, hurt, loneliness and helplessness," he said.
The auxiliary Bishop of Armagh, Dr Gerard Clifford, condemned the atrocity in the strongest possible terms, and said that the perpetrators had no support from the community.
"All have been sickened by what has been done by people claiming to be Irish. Today people just shake their heads in horror and ask: 'How can you do this?'"
"Gareth's future was stolen from him by men and women of violence who claim to plan a future for our country. Their sordid plan is based on fear, intimidation and death. We want no part in that," he said.
The cortege left the church and proceeded to St Mary's cemetery, Loughmacrory.
