OMAGH BEREFT (POEM)
Omagh Bereft
In the grief-stricken town of Omagh,
Mid the debris and grief and tears,
There in the silence of unbelief,
I have lost everyone I held dear,
Victims of death and destruction,
Oh what a price for peace,
In their innocence they were murdered,
What a way for their lives to cease.
And left with horrific memories,
I reach in the silence for you,
As from the hell of destruction,
My shattered life I view,
In the grief-stricken town of Omagh,
There is no hiding place,
What a price to pay forever,
For our loved ones gone without trace.
For Omagh God's heart is breaking,
As He watches the grief-stricken town,
And to the bereaved and the injured,
His comforting arms reach down,
Though our loved-ones have been taken,
And we are left bereft,
Love it is everlasting,
And stronger still than death.
