EMERGENCY CO-ORDINATION CENTRE TO STAY OPEN
THE Emergency Co-ordination Centre in Omagh's High Street will remain open for as long as the people of the district need it, the chief executive of the district council, Mr. John McKinney, said this week.
The centre was set up by the council early last week to help people through their harrowing experiences of the bomb. Since then, many have availed of its facilities.
Staff from various agencies have been on hand to deal with all issues arising from the tragedy. These include representatives from Social Services, Social Security, support services for the bereaved and injured, the Compensation Agency and Planning Service, as well as the council.
Mr. McKinney said the council, in conjunction with other agencies, was working to deal with the trauma which the people of the district were experiencing as a result of the huge loss of life and injuries.
He said it was also dealing with the issue of the physical reconstruction of the town, and the public would continue to receive its full support.
