SAVAGERY' CONDEMNED
Sir,
I write to state my utter condemnation of those who planted the massive bomb at Market Street in Omagh on Saturday, killing 28 innocent people, which included both children and adults and seriously injured many others for life, not forgetting those who are left with the nightmare of having witnessed this terrible carnage.
There is no doubt in my mind that those who planted the bomb, did so, to create as much fatality as possible. They would have been fully aware of the fact that there was a Community Festival Carnival in Omagh on this day, which would include a lot of children. This 'barbaric act' can only be classified as savagery and blatant murder of innocent people. After a shocking event like this, it will be a long time, if ever, before the people of Omagh can come to terms with the events of Saturday's bomb. Those who murdered and destroyed the lives of those people in Omagh on Saturday, did so, to destroy the peoples faith, hope and belief in the Good Friday Agreement, but they should realise that the people of this area will not be directed away from the Good Friday Agreement, which is seen as all our futures in bring peace and stability to our children and grandchildren.
Both the Irish and British Government must never allow such an atrocity to take place on this island again. Praise has to go to the surgeons, nurses, doctors etc of the Tyrone County Hospital and the other hospitals involved in caring for the seriously injured. Also the ambulance personnel, R.U.C., Army, bus drivers and taxi drivers and all the lay people who helped the injured and their families on this devastating day.
