STRABANE SYMPATHY

STRABANE SYMPATHY

The Sinn Fein chairman of Strabane District Council, Mr. Ivan Barr, has extended his "heartfelt sympathy" to the relatives of those who died in Omagh on Saturday and also to the very many people injured and maimed.
"Words cannot express the horror and revulsion felt by the people of the Strabane district as a result of this tragedy and the entire community is united with the people of Omagh in the struggle which lies ahead. Indeed a number of families from the Strabane area have suffered bereavement and serious injuries, the full extent of which is not yet known.
"At present we can unite in our prayers for all those involved and strive to build a better community for our people in the future", Mr. Barr said.
As a mark of respect the council has opened books of condolences at a number of centres and these will remain in place for four weeks to enable as many people as possible throughout the district to sign. They have been placed at the Tourist Information Office, Abercorn Square, Strabane' Visitors Centre, Castlederg; Grange Museum, Grange Court, Newtownstewart; Sion Mills Community Centre; Post Office, Clady; Post Office, Plumbridge and Post Office, Donemana.
