Injured woman on life support
One of the critically injured and on a life support machine in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, is Mrs. Edith Henderson, of Cranny, Omagh, wife of Mr. Jack Henderson, retired farm manager at the Tyrone and Fermanagh Hospital.
Mrs. Henderson was shopping in Watterson's when the shop was evacuated because of the bomb alert at the Courthouse, and the two shop staff who accompanied her to the supposed safety of the Dublin Road corner were killed by the blast.
Mrs. Henderson was taken initially to Tyrone County Hospital from where she was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital. As far as her family were concerned she was missing and it was not until after a night of anguish that they discovered at 6a.m. on Sunday that she was in hospital, although critically ill.
Her brother, Rev. Ernie Porter, retired Presbyterian minister of Broughshane, said surgeons had removed a piece of shrapnel from Mrs. Henderson's brain and she also had a broken arm and wrist.
