THE DRIVER (POEM)

THE DRIVER

A mother's joy some years ago,
When a brand new life had just begun.
She cared and fed and nurtured you,
The seeds of love she tried to sow.
As time went by you learned to drive,
And got involved with a ruthless mob.
They plot and plan to kill and maim,
And to meet the cause you had to strive.
Are you the hero of the day,
Now there's flesh and blood in Market Street
From young and old you've taken life,
You 've broken hearts and severed limbs away.
When kith and kin are laid to rest,
No tears you 'II shed from an empty heart.
But spare a thought for the grief you've caused
In the Market town so full of zest.
How could that precious babe in arms,
Become the cruel beast?
To plant a bomb and run away,
And watch for the slaughter of God's lambs.
As we count the cost of life and limbs
There'll be hurt and sorrow for years to come,
May God be with us one and all,
As we think of you the driver, her or him!!
Signed: A mothers thoughts
