QUEEN CONVEYS MESSAGE OF SYMPATHY TO PEOPLE OF OMAGH

Queen conveys message of sympathy to people of Omagh

Three days before her eldest son visited Omagh to personally convey his sympathy to the entire community the Queen sent her own condolences to those bereaved and those injured in the bomb attack.
The Prince of Wales visited the town on Tuesday, but her Majesty was one of the first to issue a condemnation of the slaughter on Saturday which became the blackest day in Northern Ireland.
In a statement she said: "I was shocked to hear of the appalling crime in Omagh, which resulted in so many deaths and injuries.
"Please pass my heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved, injured and those who have suffered in their distress."
