A FORMER undercover agent has come out of hiding, to claim evidence that the British security services turned a blind eye to IRA terrorist activities, is about to be made public. The ex-agent, known as 'Kevin Fulton'-whose claims sparked the Police Ombudsman's inquiry into the Omagh bomb inquiry-broke his cover to talk about the whistle blowing new video: "Agents - No More Lies".
The video makes the startling claim that MI5 agents helped obtain infra-red transmitters and receivers, which were used in IRA bomb operations in Britain and Ireland. It also blows the lid on intelligence operations, carried out by the Army's Force Research Unit (FRU).
The unit's controversial activities were featured in the recent BBC Panorama on alleged collusion between loyalists and the security services.
Now, ex-agent Fulton claims the new video - made by ex-members of FRU - is just the first in a series of planned revelations on some of the most horrific undercover intelligence operations, carried out by the security forces.
The video also identifies and names up to a dozen individuals who, the former spies claim, were senior intelligence officers, operating throughout Ireland.
FRU and RUC Special Branch agents are also filmed recalling in detail their activities, while working undercover for the security services.
It also shows how members of the Force Research Unit customised civilian vans into mobile operational units, where undercover agents could be debriefed, free from fear of being compromised.
One particular van had the inside back windows covered with toilet rolls.
The idea was to create the impression that the vehicle was a delivery van, and would not look out of place, as it travelled throughout Northern Ireland. However, behind the facade of toilet rolls, the van had been fitted out with a desk and chairs, to enable the MI5 operators to debrief their undercover agents outside a military location.
The van is understood to have also been fitted out with other items of high-tech surveillance equipment, used in the intelligence service's undercover war against the terrorists.
"The video documents how we were trained by members of the Army's Intelligence Corps, to work undercover in Ireland," said Fulton.
"It is a detailed account of what we did and where we did it.
"Intelligence operations were not solely confined to Northern Ireland.
"Over 90pc of my work was carried out in the Irish Republic, without fear of arrest by Garda officers. We will be sending a copy of the video to the Irish Government."
