OMAGH COP TO QUIT RUC

OMAGH COP TO QUIT RUC
BY ALAN MURRAY

The detective leading the hunt for the Omagh bombers is quitting the RUC.
Detective Chief Superintendent Eric Anderson is stepping down in disgust over the Patten reforms.
DCS Anderson (54) told Sunday Life the 'sterling' service of past and present officers was being 'subverted' by Patten.
"I will not be serving under his new scheme of things," he added.
Last night, there were fears that an exodus of senior officers - particularly those in Special Branch - would deal a bigger blow to the RUC than the Chinook helicopter crash, which wiped out the cream of army and police intelligence.
