Sisters' agony goes on
SISTERS Nicola and Laura Hamilton face years of hospital treatment and counselling to come to terms with their bomb ordeal.
The girls were shopping when the deadly car bomb shattered their young lives.
Their distraught mum was just yards away, in the hairdressers, when the explosion rocked the town.
Her first frantic thoughts were for her two girls. She said: "I ran onto the street, and it was pure chaos.
"There was squeals and screaming and people running everywhere with blood pouring from them. "I met Laura limping. She was in shock, and didn't realise how serious her wounds were.
Shattered
"I searched for Nicola, and a man had lifted her and set her on the pavement, and was still with her when I got there.
"I ran with her in my arms to an ambulance."
Twelve-year-old Nicola's knee was shattered by the explosion. She will be permanently disabled.
Mrs Hamilton said: "One of her legs will be shorter than the other, but it is too early to determine to what extent.
"She is only 12, so she still has a lot of growing to do, and will have to attend hospital for years yet."
Laura has already had ten operations, after a six inch piece of shrapnel embedded itself in her buttock.
Said her mum: "The physical pain she has suffered was unbelievable.
"It has been a nightmare watching the girls suffer.
"They are both suffering emotionally, and Laura is not coping very well at the moment.
"The meeting with Robbie Williams has cheered them both up."
