I HATE MY BODY THE SCARS ARE SO UGLY
I hate my body the scars are so ugly'
THE simple pleasure of shopping for her dream wedding dress was denied Sandy by the Omagh bombers.
Scars from her shrapnel injuries have left the beautiful 23-year-old detesting her own body.
"I hate my body, the scars are so ugly," she said.
"I didn't want to go into a bridal shop and have strangers seeing my scars, when I was trying dresses on.
"I just prayed God you're going to have to sort this out for me."
Out of the blue, a friend of Sandy's rang to discuss her wedding plans.
Without realising Sandy's dilemma, she offered to lend Sandy her designer dress, which she had got married in just two years ago.
Said Sandy: "It was unbelievable. She said she would love her dress to be worn again, and that I could even alter it if I wanted.
"I tried it on, and I loved it."
Counsellors are trying to help Sandy overcome the revulsion she now feels about her body.
She said: "The scar on my leg is so bad, I probably won't wear a skirt or dress ever again.
"I don't know if they'll fade through time.
"All I know is, at the minute, my body is horribly scared that I can't bear anybody seeing it."
