Anglers urged to cast off for Omagh fund

A PLAN to reel in a pot of cash for the Omagh Disaster Appeal Fund has been hatched by local anglers.
Fishing enthusiasts are being urged to take part in a massive shore angling competition in the north west next month.
Organisers hope that up to 300 anglers will take part in the event, at Benone Strand on Sunday, December 13.
The event is the brainchild of Paul Divito, secretary of the Ulster branch of the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers.
"I spoke to other anglers, and they agreed that holding a competition to raise funds for Omagh was a good idea."
Many anglers from Donegal have said they'll be turning up, and Paul is currently trying to attract support in Dublin.
He has secured 20 lucrative prizes from sponsors, including seven weekend breaks.
"I'd stress the competition is open to absolutely everyone," said Paul.
"It's open to novices -anyone who can get their hands on a rod basically.
"The entry fee is £10 for senior, £5 for juniors and entries are taken on the day."
