GOLFERS IN HELP PLAN
Golfers in help plan
ULSTER golfer Darren Clarke is to organise a pro-am tournament to raise cash for the victims of the Omagh bombing.
He announced the plans last night at the European Open golf championship, taking place at the K Club, in Co Kildare.
It is hoped the event, to be staged on September 14 at the Portmarnock links, near Dublin, will involve members of the British and Irish Ryder Cup team and other top golfers.
"We are hoping to raise in the region of IRĀ£150,000 for the Omagh fund. I know we can't bring people back, but we would like to do something to show our support for all those people who have suffered and the pain they are going through," said Clarke.
"Fortunately, I am now in a position where I can ask some guys to come over and play as a favour. The ones I have asked so far are only too willing to come."
