Omagh families in court

LAWYERS for families bereaved in the Omagh bomb will return to Dublin Special Criminal Court today to seek documents for their pending civil action.
Transcripts and evidence books used in recent trials in Dublin, have been requested for use in the civil action, due to take place in January at the High Court in Belfast.
The Real IRA claimed responsibility for the bomb, which claimed the lives of 29 people and unborn twins.
The case was adjourned earlier this week amid concerns over the courts jurisdiction and impact on forthcoming appeal cases for McKevitt and Murphy.
Further legal submissions and representations are expected to be heard today.
It is expected that a date may be set for a hearing with regard to the application for transcripts and evidence books.
The Irish government betrayed the victims of the Dublin and Monaghan bombings by deciding on a private inquiry into the atrocities, relatives claimed last night.
The Justice for the Forgotten group said Irish premier Bertie Ahern had gone back on commitments made to set up a public inquiry to investigate allegations of collusion between loyalists and British authorities.
The families' campaign group insisted a full inquiry was now needed to get to the bottom of how 33 of their relatives were murdered on the streets by loyalist bombers more than 30 years ago.
