EU FUNDS COULD AID TYRONE HOSPITAL
EU funds could aid Tyrone hospital
INDEPENDENT European election candidate, John Gilliland has claimed he may have found a solution to the problems facing the Tyrone County Hospital in Omagh.
Mr Gilliland, who travelled to Omagh to share the good news with Dr Kieran Deeny MLA, the Independent Hospital campaigner elected to the Assembly in November, explained: "I have learned today that the European Investment Bank is funding hospital projects in France. But no application has ever been made for Omagh.
'I am demanding urgent action from the NIO Health Minister and the EU to extend the EIB facilities to ensure that this important work continues in County Tyrone."
Confirming his campaign slogan No Politics Just Action, Gilliland continued: "We need to be prepared to go the extra mile for Omagh, especially after Channel 4's chilling drama on the 1998 bomb screened last week. Tyrone cannot be overlooked.
"If the EIB can support the Nantes University Hospital in France, the Cork School of Music and urban regeneration projects in England, they can be asked to fund Omagh.
"What kind of ideology has stopped our previous Health Ministers, including Bairbre de Brun, from applying? The old politics of neglect and delay, that's what."
