A HARDSHIP fund of �200,000 has been launched by the Omagh Fund to help people affected by the Real IRA Omagh bomb.
The money has been released to help people in Omagh, Buncrana and Madrid who have suffered emotionally or who have been forced to change their way of life after the horrific explosion.
Sean O'Dwyer, chairman of the Omagh Fund, said this new hardship fund would help address the very real financial difficulties faced by many people suffering from psychological distress.
Twenty-nine people were killed in the bomb. More than 300 people were injured and countless families were devastated.
Mr O'Dwyer said it was envisaged that the Hardship Fund could be used for a variety of causes and urged those affected to apply for help.
"Perhaps you have incurred travelling expenses accompanying a friend or family member attending treatment for injuries as a result of the Omagh bomb or maybe you were forced to withdraw from your university course and need help with course fees so that you may return to education.
"You may even have reduced the number of hours that you work in order to look after a family member who was injured."
