McKevitt out to visit sick mother

COMPASSIONATE temporary release has been granted to Real IRA leader Michael McKevitt to tend his terminally-ill mother.
He was released from Portlaoise prison on Tuesday afternoon.
It is understood no date has been set for his return.
McKevitt, 53, from Blackrock, Co Louth, was the first person to be convicted in the Republic of directing terrorism, a charge introduced in the aftermath of the Omagh bombing.
He was sentenced to 20 years last August, nine days short of the fifth anniversary of the Omagh massacre which killed 29 people and unborn twins.
