A COLD HOUSE FOR VICTIMS
TRAUMATISED relatives of Omagh bomb victims in need of basic help have been cruelly abandoned by the Government, it has been claimed.
Michael Gallagher whose son Aiden, 21, was killed in the Real IRA atrocity, has criticised Northern Ireland Victims' Minister Angela Smith for rejecting a plea to help his depressed daughter to secure a Housing Executive property near their family home.
Sharon, 30, has suffered from severe depression since her brother Aiden was murdered.
Mr Gallagher wrote to Ms Smith after victims' issues were transferred to her portfolio during the Cabinet reshuffle in June.
But he said he was shocked by the manner in which Ms Smith turned down his plea.
Mr Gallagher said: "The Minister is the person sent here from London to fight the victims' corner.
"She's supposed to be in there battling for us and yet she has fallen at the first hurdle. What is she here for if she won't help victims?"
