Man to be charged over Omagh bomb

POLICE investigating the Omagh bomb atrocity are expected to charge a man in the Republic today.
The man will appear in the Dublin's anti-terrorist court in Dublin today, a Garda spokesman said last night.
It is understood he will face two charges, one of which is belonging to an illegal organisation. It is believed he comes from the Dundalk area.
Twenty-nine people were killed and more than 350 others injured when the car bomb left by the Real IRA exploded in Omagh's Market Street last August.
The man to be charged is one of a number being held at Monaghan Garda Station. Two are still being questioned north of the border and include the hard line Republican Francis Mackey, 44, chairman of the 32-county Sovereignty Committee which is linked to the Real IRA, which carried out the attack.
Four other men were released without charge last night, the RUC confirmed.
Mackey, a psychiatric nurse whose home in the village of Mountfield is seven miles from Omagh, is being held at Strand Road RUC station, Londonderry, where the second man is also detained.
Under the Prevention of Terrorism Act he can be held for up to seven days without being charged.
Irish police have been working closely with senior RUC officers in an unprecedented inquiry to track down the Real IRA bombers.
Officers have been involved in a string of top level meetings since a series of arrests started at the weekend.
