Barry jets in to lend Omagh support

BARRY MCGUIGAN is wading in with heavy support for Wednesday 's gala charity amateur boxing "show at Omagh, Leisure Centre.
The Clones-Cyclone is the latest addition to an Impressive array of past and present boxing greats lending help to the bill, in aid of the Omagh Memorial Fund. And the Sky's the limit as McGuigan, the former world featherweight champion, is also part of a SKY TV contingent.
A ringside analyst with SKY, Barry arrives with a full crew, including cameras, to cover the event.
Travelling with McGuigan Is fellow commentator, former world cruiser- weight champion Glenn McCrory. Steve Collins, the former world middle arid super-middleweight champion from Dublin, will be an other big attraction.
The colourful "Celtic Warrior" links, with ex-world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno as one of many leading ringside personalities.
Local past and present high-profile punchers to provide support for the show are Billy "Spider" Kelly, for mer world flyweight champion Dave "Boy" McAuley, Darren Corbett, Sam Storey, Hugh Russell and Charlie Nash.
Frank Moloney, manager of Lennox Lewis, plans to come from London and will auction some boxing memorabilia.
Gloves signed and donated by Henry Cooper and Barry McGuigan will be featured in the collection.
Paddy McMahon, one of the organisers of the event, lists a 10-bout amateur bill, which will be headed by local hero Ben McGarrlgle. The 32 year old Strabane fireman, who fights out of the Omagh Boys Club and competed in the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, takes on Dungannon prospect Trevor Black.
Omagh Boys and Girls Club stage the event, and coach Davy Simrnonds has lined up another Commonwealth Games participant -Dungiven lightwelter Paul McCloskey. He will be involved in a rematch against Noel Monteith, of the Bishop Kelly Club.
Tommy Donnelly, a seasoned lightheavy from the Mark Heagney Club, Kildress and another member of the Northern Ireland squad, meets
Alan Reynolds of Sligo.
