Stars bring hope to Omagh victims

SOME of the biggest Irish stars in the pop world are coming together to record an album to raise cash for the Omagh victims.
Entitled Across The Bridge of Hope, from a poem by Donegal victim Sean McLaughlin, it will include U2, Van Morrison, Boyzone, Sinead O'Connor, Ash, Enya and Paul Brady.
The CD, due for release at the end of the month, will also include a spoken piece from Ballymena-born Liam Neeson in which he reads the words of 12-year-old Sean's poem.
Just three months before his death, the youngster had met Eire president Mary McAleese and presented her with a copy of his work.
He wrote:
"Orange and green,
it does not matter,
United now, don't shatter our dream,
Scatter the seeds of peace over our land,
So we can travel, hand in hand,
Across the bridge of hope."
The Omagh Children's Choir is to record the title track, specially written for the album, backed by the Ulster Youth Orchestra.
Belfast-based record company boss Ross Graham said: "It's a collective statement of sympathy for all those who have suffered as a result of the Troubles in Northern Ireland.
"All the artists have been great and came back to us quickly to see what they could do."
