Potent symbol of blast legacy
THE people of Omagh remembered their dead and injured yesterday as they gave thanks for those who helped in the aftermath of the Real IRA bomb.
A wooden cross was carried through the town in a series of relays along the route taken by ambulances and helpers to Tyrone County Hospital at Campsie.
Those taking part gathered at the Drumragh car park before setting off the short distance to the bomb site, where they paused for prayers in memory of those killed and wounded in the explosion.
The Way of the Cross initiative was organised by the Omagh Churches' Forum and symbolised the gospel story of how Jesus was helped to carry his cross to Calvary.
