Prince's picture for blast charity

A SIGNED print of a painting of Windsor Castle has been donated by Prince Charles to an auction in aid of the Omagh Fund.
It will be among 240 paintings donated by contemporary and historical artists in Britain and Ireland. They will all be on view in the National Concert Hall in Dublin tomorrow and go under the hammer by experts from Sotheby's Auctions on Wednesday.
Sotheby's, which has never auctioned any of Prince Charles' works, said the signed print of Windsor Castle is expected to be the centrepiece and could fetch in the region of £3,000.
The picture, dated 1995, is also embossed with Prince Charles' coat of arms.
A Sotheby's spokeswoman said Prince Charles responded without hesitation to a request for one of his works.
She said: "He was very touched by what he saw when he visited Omagh after the bombing. He really wanted to help the people and this is a small token to help them try to cope with what happened."
Proceeds from the auction will go to pay for physiotherapy for bomb victims and equipment for the Co Tyrone Hospital where more than 300 people were treated after the August 15 outrage by the Real IRA.
