Ginola brings joy to Omagh injured
SPURS heart-throb David Ginola joined stars from the entertainment world last night to raise cash for the Omagh bomb fund.
Relatives of the dead and the injured were among the crowd which was treated to a musical and sporting evening, with contributions from Londonderry-born Phil Coulter and Belfast singer Brian Kennedy.
Before the kick-off at the Brandywell stadium, the players observed a minute's silence in memory of the 29 victims of the August 15 Real IRA bomb.
The open-air concert and soccer showpiece is expected to raise �75,000 to help the victims of the atrocity.
Ginola led Derry City as they stormed to a 5-2 victory over a side selected by Republic of Ireland boss Mick McCarthy.
Before the game the French star said: "I wanted to play tonight because first of all I am a football player, but I am also a father and have a family, so I can understand easily just what this tragedy could mean for a family and for a father."
