Ambulance man may face charge after fatal crash

A HERO who helped the Omagh bomb injured may be charged over the death of the "forgotten victim" of the outrage.
'The RUC is finalising a report, to be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, on the ambulance driver who was involved in a fatal accident, the day after the bombing.
The man was transferring a child to the burns unit at the Ulster Hospital in Dundonald.
It was near the end of a 90-mile drive to save the child's life that his ambulance was involved in a tragic accident near the RUC headquarters at Knock, in east Belfast.
Printer Gary White, from Newtownards, died at the scene when the two vehicles collided at traffic lights at the junction of King's Road and Knock Road.
Mr White was unofficially listed as the "forgotten victim" of the Real IRA outrage, which claimed 29 lives and injured more than 200 others on August 15.
Yesterday, his wife Elaine said she held no ill will against the driver and said it was "another very sad event in a chain of very sad events".
She said the very mention of Omagh brings the reality of her husband's death raging back to her all over again.
An RUC spokesman confirmed last night that a report was being prepared and would shortly be with the DPP, which would then decide whether or not the ambulance driver should be charged with a motoring offence.
