Decommissioning - dead end or distraction
GERRY Adams says that "decommission" is a dead end issue. Seamus Mallon on the other hand says that it is a "distraction". Just how wrong both of them are. Just how many dead do you want Gerry?
We already had more than 3,000 and Omagh added another 29 plus the twins unborn who but for that cowardly bomb crew would now be breathing the sweet air of Tyrone.
We have been told that at least some of the material in the Omagh bomb was stolen from PIRA stocks. So if some discontented PIRA man steals some more and another bomb is left in some unsuspecting crowd of people to do murder in its most vilest form, will that be a dead end or will it be a distraction?
Could that cowardly talk be put to the people of Omagh who had 251 dead and injured. (I include the twins again) and to some other towns who have suffered.
So we have to be grateful for the leadership of David Trimble who didn't run away from negotiations and I am sure will stay with it until all the terrorists' weapons and explosives are destroyed.
Bertie Ahern worries me, despite all his big talk. He has not uttered one word about the destruction of the vast store of murder material in the Republic. What does he intend to do about it?
It is clear that the Omagh bomb came from the Republic, as did many others. There has not been an apology to the people of Omagh, or for the fact that his territory has been used over the years to carry out terrorist attacks on his nearest neighbour. Please act quickly Mr Ahern.
At least De Valera, for all his shortcomings, had great pride in the office you now hold and he would not permit terrorists to use the Republic for their evil purposes.
