Republicans reaping fruits of appeasement

On August 15, in Omagh, Irish Republican terrorists perpetrated the bloodiest, vilest and most cowardly massacre of innocent men, women and children in the last 30 years of Northern Ireland's history.
In their relentless campaign of terror aimed at foisting their fascist ideals on the unionist majority, these abominable offscourings of society slaughtered at one foul stoke almost 30 human beings, including unborn babies in their mother's womb, and maimed over 300. Their dastardly tactic was to lure their victims into the very centre of the bomb blast by deliberately giving a false warning about its location.
This mindless atrocity carried out by depraved Irish nationalist fanatics is the fruit of three decades of appeasement of their republican agenda. The endless string of capitulation to the bomb and the bullet; the progressive betrayal of democracy in Northern Ireland since the Anglo-Irish Agreement; the campaign of misinformation and deceit by the NIO and the media; the duplicity and impotence of the Official Unionist Party; the final ignominy of the Government's defection to the enemy's camp at Drumcree symbolising the shameless abandonment of the civil and political liberties of British fellow citizens - all these factors have been the inevitable outcome of the inept policies pursued by successive British Governments. What they have sown they have now begun to reap, and it is the people of Northern Ireland who are being slaughtered in the
process.
Having ignored all past warnings - together with all the vindication - that 'the so-called 'peace' process was a tactic and a fake, this perfidious and discredited Government now incredibly continues its obstinate pursuit of the self-same agenda, attempting to extricate itself from its own mess by disseminating a double lie. Firstly, it claims that the Omagh bomb was the work of so-called 'dissident republicans' divorced from the so-called newly converted 'democrats' of IRA/Sinn Fein. Secondly, it pretends the only choice facing Northern Ireland is between that farcical 'peace process' and a continuation of the violence. The facts are: One - there is no such thing as a 'dissident republican': all republicans, because their ideals are absolutist, are necessarily dissident from democracy and the violent ones dissident from civilisation. Two - 'peace process' and republican violence are not only interdependent, but absolutely identical concepts. The 'peace process' is the violence and the violence is the peace process. The concessions which hold it in place have bred the violence, and the violence will continue to thrive on the concessions, simply because no compromise can ever satisfy republican ideals. Violence is not assuaged by concessions to a false peace process: it is generated and cultivated by them. This Government must therefore be exposed as bearing ultimate responsibility for the violence, death and suffering perpetrated in Omagh.
Mr Blair's gimmicky pledge to the people of Northern Ireland designed to influence the referendum result has already been exposed as a blatant lie, for there has been absolutely no linkage between prisoner releases and arms decommissioning, and yet some unrepentant and unreformed terrorist murderers are already being released.
If the Omagh bombing could take place even before the prison floodgate has been opened, what can the people of Northern Ireland expect when all the murderers and wreckers are finally released onto our streets to return to their intact stockpiles of weaponry and deploy them when events do not move in the direction which they desire?
The fact is that if decommissioning had not been shelved and IRA/Sinn Fein had been forced to surrender its weapons and explosives, the Omagh atrocity could not have occurred. By the same token, if the precipitation of concessions by the Government had not included the dismantling of security, the butchery and grief at Omagh would have been avoided.
Ulster must now ask whether, if the Omagh bombers are caught and convicted, they too will be released as part of the Belfast Agreement. How, too, will their crime be measured against those of the released Sinn Fein/IRA bombers who have killed and mutilated even more than the 'Real IRA'?
Since her appointment, the Secretary of State has openly and shamelessly aided and abetted Irish republicanism, fraternised with Sinn Fein/IRA and pursued a blatantly anti-unionist agenda. A woman who in October 1997 publicly declared her philosophy that life is not based on moral absolutes, and who elevated the goals of republicanism to a 'conflicting right', has clearly encouraged the pursuit of those goals, and if she does not believe in political morality she is unworthy of the high office which she holds and should be removed from it forthwith.
President Clinton's blatant interference in Northern Ireland's affairs, to the extent of overtly promoting the Sinn Fein/IRA cause out of electoral self-interest, was nothing short of open encouragement of terrorism.
It must be asked how much of the money secured by Gerry Adams' fundraising trips to America went towards paying for the ingredients and logistics of the Omagh bomb?
A man who was ultimately forced to make the ignominious admission that he misled his country, his Government and his wife as a philanderer must be considered equally capable of misleading the people of Northern Ireland.
Now he has the hypocrisy and the effrontery to portray himself as the great warrior against terrorism. He has spoken of the "twisted mentality" of terrorism in the embassy bombings in Africa, yet welcomed the godfather of Irish republican terrorism; he has bemoaned the death and injury of "innocent Americans and Africans", yet never once openly condemned the murder of Ulster Protestants; he has legitimised the retaliatory strike against "a set of camps" and a factory in Sudan because of "compelling information" about "additional attacks against our citizens and others", yet not bombed the IRA weapons dumps in the Irish Republic from where the IRA is predominantly operational. Twisted logic indeed, in which the arch-sponsor of Irish republican terrorism dons the garb of the world's anti-terrorist policeman.
Blair, Mowlam and Clinton are tough on talk but weak on action; they all misled the people of Northern Ireland and should all be impeached for taking advantage of the public trust.
