VICTIM WANTED TO TRAVEL THE WORLD

Victim wanted to travel world

AN empty desk at Strabane Grammar School was a poignant reminder that it had lost a lovely student who had wanted to journey around the globe.
Samantha McFarland, 17, had often talked about her ambitions to travel the world to classmates.
It was a passion she shared with her pal Lorraine Wilson as they carried out their voluntary work in the Oxfam shop in Omagh. They never got to achieve their dreams.
At her funeral classmates formed a guard of honour outside Holy Trinity Church of Ireland Parish Church, Lislimnaghan, just four miles outside Omagh.
Yesterday, there were more tears as those same friends returned to their desks alongside where Samantha would have sat. Silent prayers were said for the girl who her brother Richard described at her funeral as a sister who "touched so many people she had a beautiful soul".
