Omagh gang's bloody history revealed: shocking truth behind ctalogue of carnage

THE GODFATHERS of the Omagh bombing have been linked to some of Ulster's worst atrocities stretching back almost 25 years - including the Kingsmill and Tullyvallen massacres.
The News Letter has evidence, contained in highly confidential police reports on the 1970s killings, that at least three of the perpetrators now in the frame for carrying out the Real IRA bombing in August last year were already mass killers two decades ago.
Police claim they know the identities of the six dissident republicans who, between them, made and planted the 1,0001b bomb which killed 29 people and injured more than 300 others.
The confidential papers prove these men were prolific Provo killers in the 1970s, operating under a flag of convenience during IRA ceasefires - and still do today.
They used high-velocity Armalite rifles to execute 10 Protestants in the Kingsmill massacre and five Orangemen in the Tullyvallen shooting, as well as involvement in the murders of several UDR soldiers. Last night a police source confirmed many of the men suspected of involvement in the litany of killings are now the bosses of the Real IRA and Continuity IRA.
And that, despite being wanted men for almost 25 years, they have repeatedly managed to evade prosecution.
