Two young heroes bring festive cheer

EMMET McLaughlin and Ronan McGrory, child survivors of the Omagh bomb massacre, brought the magic of Christmas to Buncrana last night.
Nine-year-old Emmet and Ronan, 14, were caught up in the Real IRA August 15 bomb blitz of the Co Tyrone town, which they had been visiting along with Spanish young people who were in the North West on an exchange trip.
Many hundreds cheered at Market Square, Buncrana, when together the excited schoolboys officially switched on the Christmas tree lights in the Lough Swilly resort.
The boys, who survived the blast that claimed 29 lives and maimed many more, smiled as the lights lit up the wintry sky.
It was a night when the people of Buncrana forgot the gloom of long Christmas lay-offs and redundancies at the resort's biggest employer - the Fruit of the Loom factory.
But there were tears too as people remembered three young local children and two of their Spanish friends who were killed in the Omagh atrocity.
