IMPORTANT ROLE OF CREATIVITY

ARTIST Carole Kane, from Portglenone, said 10 years on she looks back on Omagh's Petals of Hope project as an "incredible experience".
The Petals of Hope exhibition is showing at Strule Arts Centre in tribute to the victims. The art pieces were from floral tributes left after the Omagh bomb.
"I was coming alongside people who were really hurting and going through a range of emotions," said Carole.
She learned a lot about how men and women grieve.
"When I saw the flowers left in the town, they were not just flowers, they were a symbolism of how people felt, I wanted to, do something to show the love and care for the town in the aftermath.
"People came and saw the work and cried, and there was healing from being there and for those involved," she said.
Today, Carole delivers courses to the community with the Workers' Education Association.
"Ten years on, our identity as a Province is still connected to the Troubles," she said.
"Creativity and culture has an important role to play in moving forward."
