As the people of Omagh take their first tentative steps towards rebuilding their lives, Prime Minister Tony Blair flies into Ulster to outline his government's plans to prevent a similar atrocity ever happening again.
Yesterday, those traders who could, opened for business, while their colleagues began the task of clearing the debris and preparing for months of reconstruction.
Few had much heart for the task. But they were supported by the townspeople who welcomed the first signs of normality.
Mr Blair is expected to visit Omagh and will also meet Erie premier Bertie Ahern today, amid speculation that Parliament will be recalled to approve stiff new security measures.
