Eire must act says Empey

A SENIOR Ulster Unionist has urged the British and Irish governments to think again on the issue of internment in the aftermath of the Omagh atrocity.
Reg Empey, one of the key negotiators of the Good Friday Agreement, said both governments must act to protect the community from a band of callous and ruthless killers.
"These so-called republican dissident groups operate from within the Irish Republic, and it is there that the most stringent measures are needed.
"If Mr Ahern wishes to retain any international credibility he must show by deed as well as word that he will not allow his territory to be used as a base for attacks on Ulster
