A TEAR FOR VICTIMS OF ATROCITY

A tear for victims of atrocity

POPE John Paul II appeared to wipe away a tear as he addressed the people of Northern Ireland during his Angelus message yesterday morning from the balcony of his summer residence in Castel Gandolfo, near Rome.
Calling the bombing "tragic and nonsensical" the Pontiff said: "I hope for the dear island that the people of goodwill will not yield to violence and that they can preserve the peaceful co-operation on which the country depends."
