PRISONERS MEETING POSTPONED
Prisoners meeting postponed
THE PUP has postponed a vital meeting over the release of UVF and Red Hand Commando prisoners today in light of the Omagh tragedy.
In a statement last night William Smith, PUP chairman and prisoners' spokesman, said the meeting was postponed with the Commission Review Board as "a mark of respect for the dead and a comfort to those fighting for their lives".
"We feel it is inappropriate to continue with this meeting.
"We wish to extend our sympathies to the families of the bereaved and offer our prayers to the survivors and hope they make a full recovery," he said.
