Beautiful mother 'was the salt of the earth'
FAMILY and friends of Geraldine Breslin were last night united in grief as they mourned one of the many victims of Saturday's bomb in Omagh.
The 35-year-old mother-of-one was killed as she fled the Watterson's clothes shop with other fellow workers, only to be hit by the full force of the blast.
Her family last night released a statement and a picture of her on her wedding day just over two years ago as they struggled to comprehend their loss.
The statement said: "The McCrystal and Breslin families are both close and strong, and are helping each other through this very difficult period.
"Their thoughts and prayers are with the families of all the victims."
Her husband Mark and their 14-year-old son Gareth are being comforted at their home in Omagh.
Local priest Father John Forbes, who has known the couple for two years, described Mrs Breslin as "a beautiful woman who was the salt of the earth".
He said she was one of four members of staff who left through the front of the shop but only two of them survived the explosion.
The others, who left from the rear of the building, escaped injury, he added.
Neighbours of the family described Mrs Breslin as "a bubbly and loving woman".
One said: "She was a good, close friend and we moved in here at the same time. We moved in in October '95 and I remember Geraldine was getting ready to be married in the December.
"She was a lovely, bubbly person and never had a bad word to say about anybody.
"She was friends with everyone and she will be sadly missed."
