FERNANDO BLASCO BASELGA

Fernando Blasco Baselga

When Vincent Deehan, the postman in Buncrana learned of what had happened, he wrote this poem , his first, and presented it to the school principal and the bereaved families of the town and Madrid. Fernando's family liked it so much that it was used in two languages at the Memorial Mass in Madrid and is printed on his Memorial card.

The message:
Don't cry for me, I beg you please
With God's help, your pain will ease
Don't despair, it's in Gods plan
Why I was called to this promised land.

To cry for me just now is wrong
My death will make you really strong
In life the thought of death is fear
Please don't worry, it's peaceful here.
It's in your thoughts, I wish to stay
Please don't forget for me to pray
Remember all the little things
For you're the wind beneath my wings.

It's hard for you, from me to part
It'll keep you all within my heart
Your smiling face is like a ray
That's why I'm never far away
