MINISTERS PLANT A TREE FOR OMAGH VICTIMS
Ministers plant a tree for Omagh victims
The National Parents Council (Primary) is hoping that every primary school or community in the country will plant a tree in its school or locality for the victims of the Omagh bombing.
During his recent visit to Dublin, the British Education Secretary, David Blunkett, lent his support to the project. He is pictured here with the Minister for Education and Science, Micheal Martin, planting a tree in the grounds of the Department of Education and Science, Marlborough Street, Dublin, with the help of Dublin schoolboy Michael Keating.
On the right are Kathi Dillon, chairwoman of the National Parents Council (Primary), and her two children, Martin and Eilis. The Tree Council of Ireland has agreed to issue a certificate on request from individual schools, after a peace tree has been planted.
