FIRST MINISTER NOTABLE BY ABSENCE
First Minister notable by absence
WHILE representatives from across the world turned out to a rain soaked Omagh for the memorial service, First Minister Peter Robinson was notable by his absence. He was instead represented by junior minister Jeffrey
Donaldson.
A DUP spokesman said yesterday that Mr Robinson was out of the country.
It is believed that he is on a family holiday.
Taoiseach Brian Cowen travelled from Dublin, representatives flew in from Spain and members of the public came from across Ireland - 31 people even braved a seven-hour bus trip from Cork for the 10-year anniversary memorial ceremony. Other politicians present included SDLP leader Mark Durkan, his colleague Alban Maginness, UUP deputy leader Danny Kennedy and Alliance leader David Ford. The international media was also out in force to cover the event but of the 14-strong ministerial team at Stormont only Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Mr Donaldson attended the service.
