Civil case will go on says Sir Brian
NOTHING will be allowed to cause further delay to the Omagh bomb compensation case, Lord Chief Justice Sir Brian Kerr said yesterday. He said his decision to grant leave for an appeal by two of the defendants would not impede the case which is due to be heard next April. Relatives of the victims are claiming £14 million compensation from the Real IRA and five men suspected of involvement in the bombing, including Michael McKevitt (56), from Blackrock, Co Louth, who is serving 20 years in Portlaoise Prison. The latest legal moves in the case are due to be heard on January 16.
