Bomb charges 'weak'
ALLEGED Omagh bomber Sean Hoey should not stand trial because the Crown case against him "is not sustainable", his lawyer claimed yesterday.
Lodging a 'no bill' application at Belfast Crown Court defence lawyer Martin O'Rourke said the depositions and statements "do not disclose a case sufficient to justify putting the defendant on trial".
Hoey (36) of Molly Road, Jonesborough, Co Armagh, faces a total of 58 charges relating to the August 1998 Omagh bomb carried out by the Real IRA and a series of other attacks across Northern Ireland.
The prosecution will make its reply after the Easter break.
