GELDOLF REISSUES FUNDS APPEAL

Geldof reissues fund appeal

THE Omagh bomb was morally identical to the events of September 11, Bob Geldof said yesterday as he called for funds to help the victims' families mount a civil action against the suspected bombers.
Sir Bob was joined by First Minister David Trimble, former secretary of state Peter Mandelson and boxing hero Barry McGuigan at the Irish Club in central London yesterday. Mr Geldof said he was "appalled" by the lack of response to the families' appeal.
They need at least £1million by the end of April if their civil action is to make it to court but have so far raised just £500,000.
"Omagh was without question our September II. When you consider what was donated in cash from Britain and Ireland to the victims of the atrocity in America and what these people have received in pursuit of justice, then it leads us all to shame," Mr Geldof said.
