Minor charity game refixed
THE match between Tyrone's All-Ireland minor winning team and an Augher/Clogher/Eskra select in aid of the Omagh bomb fund has been rescheduled for this Saturday in Clogher (2.30).
The original date for the occasion, October 24, fell foul of the bad weather but, undaunted, the organisers have refixed the match for this weekend in St Patrick's Park when the Thomas Markham Cup will be on show.
Saturday's match will mark the final occasion the victorious minor line-up play together as a team.
Managers Mickey Harte and Father Gerard McAleer, who have taken charge of the Tyrone U21s, are said to be looking forward to Saturday's final day out with this special team.
"It will be nice to be back at the minor helm one last time in Clogher on Saturday to support the Omagh Fund," said Harte last night.
Augher man Dessie McKenna, who captained the last Tyrone minor side to claim the All-Ireland title prior to this year (1973), is managing the Clogher Valley select.
Clogher Valley was deeply affected by the terrible events on August 15 and its aftermath with a number of local families having lost loved ones in addition to numerous injured.
Those unable to attend Saturday's occasion in person can leave donations with local priests Father Lawrence Dawson or Father Terence Connolly or any committee member of the three local football clubs.
Already, a barbeque and dance held on the evening of October 24 has raised a substantial sum of money for the GAA's Omagh fund.
Music at the match will be provided by St Patrick's youth marching band which is made up of members of Augher and Clogher.
