Man quizzed for five days over Omagh

A PROMINENT republican from south Armagh was being questioned last night for a fifth day in connection with the Omagh bomb.
The RUC did not reveal the details until contacted by the Irish News last night. Police confirmed that the man was arrested on Sunday in Newry and was assisting police with their enquiries into the August 15 massacre which killed 29 people,
The suspect is Declan McComish (31) from the Jonesborough area close to the border.
It is understood the security forces swooped on the man as he walked along Newry's Carnlough Road.
Mr McComish was convicted in December 1996, along with another Jonesborough man, for helping the killers of Newry postal worker Frank Kerr (53) from Carnlough in November, 1994, but was cleared of murder. Mr Kerr was shot dead during the theft of £I30,000 from the Newry postal depot. The IRA admitted the killing which was in breach of their ceasefire called on August 31 1994.
