Special help for Omagh victims

IRELAND'S network of Credit Unions are planning efforts aimed at easing the burden of those caught in the Omagh bomb blast.
A spokesman for the Irish League of Credit Unions yesterday confirmed it is coordinating a scheme aimed at offering special support to those of its members caught in the Omagh disaster.
The devastating bomb blast killed 29 people, claimed the lives of unborn twins and led indirectly to a further death in a related road crash.
Now the Credit Union's Chapter 17-which covers the Omagh area - is set to implement the relief project which will review the cases of those members effected by the bombing, with a view to offering financial assistance.
"The idea is that the Credit Union - if they feel they have a member who could benefit - they will contact us and the case will be looked at, with its own circumstances taken into consideration to see what help can be offered," said a spokesperson at the Dublin headquarters of the Irish League of Credit Unions.
"It is just a chance for the Credit Union both north and south to show their support."
It is likely those effected by the blast could expect help with loan repayments.
