SDLP'S PLEA FOR HOSPITAL
SDLP's plea for hospital
By Ciara McGrillan
THE DECISION on the future of Tyrone County Hospital under the Acute Hospital Services Review must be fair and balanced SDLP assembly member for West Tyrone, Joe Byrne, said yesterday.
Mr Byrne insisted the Western Board and the Sperrin Lakeland Trust must incorporate proper public consultation with political accountability in its decision making process.
"In the past flawed decisions like the closure of Omagh Maternity Unit were made without proper and due consideration of all the facts and issues."
He added: "After the terrible experience of the Omagh bombing it is now more apparent than ever that the current review of Acute Hospital Services must have a proper, objective and fair basis. Omagh cannot be allowed to suffer any further neglect on health or any other public service issue."
