Police hold 12 bombing suspects

Twelve men were still being questioned on both sides of the border last night as gardai and RUC detective continued investigations into the Omagh bomb atrocity.
The men were arrested in simultaneous raids by detectives in the first major cross-border operation since the August attack.
Six men were arrested in the Castleblayney area of Co Monaghan, and the same number were held by RUC officers in South Armagh.
The men being held in the Republic can be detained for 72 hours while in Northern Ireland they can be questioned for at least five days, with a two-day extension on the order of the secretary of state.
