RIRA could call halt
THERE was increased speculation last night that the Real IRA was on the verge of calling a full ceasefire.
Despite media reports that gardai surveillance of alleged members of the group was preventing a meeting to copperfasten a 'cessation, sources still said a ceasefire was "inevitable".
Members of the Real IRA, responsible for the Omagh massacre which claimed its 29th victim on Saturday morning, are thought to believe its campaign is "futile" in the present circumstances.
It is thought a ceasefire announcement could be made before the end of the week.
